Embrace Your Girl Power with Girls Thriving!
Girls Thriving is a program that offers personal development classes that are highly interactive and offer a safe place for girls to learn effective social and emotional coping strategies. Even better, teenagers gain a supportive community of others like them, where they can grow and share together.
All teenage girls grades 6-12 and their mother figures are welcome, regardless of your membership status with Fresh Start.
Topics covered in the workshop include:
- Relationship Building and Healthy Relationships
- Leadership Skills
- Assertive Communication
- Goal Setting
- Safety in an Online World
- Self Esteem
What is the Girls Thriving program at Fresh Start Foundation?
Girls Thriving program at Fresh Start Women's Foundation aims to provide all girls in the 6th - 12th grades with holistic opportunities for personal development, leadership, and mentorship. Our goal is to empower girls to become resilient young women who thrive! Mother figures are invited to participate in sessions with the teen girl in their life.
How often and where do they meet?
Girls Thriving meets on a Saturday Morning at the Jewell McFarland Lewis Fresh Start Women's Resource Center, where we get to connect, learn and build community.
What type of people lead the classes?
We have trained and experienced staff in specific areas related to the girls, as well as community partners who lead classes.
What does a typical class look like?
We typically have 25 girls ranging from grades 6-12, all from different areas of the valley. We always start by getting to know each other and setting group agreements before jumping into our sessions. Topics vary each session and may include community parnter presentations and hands on activities. Lunch will be provided, during which time we'll focus on building meaningful social connections.
