This October, Fresh Start Women’s Foundation is honored to present the Amica Companies Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Amica Insurance, with the Community Impact Award for its longstanding support of Fresh Start’s programs and services. The award was created to celebrate the supporters who have partnered with Fresh Start in their mission to empower women.
“The Amica Companies Foundation has been an integral part of the success of our Jump Start program for the last three years, and we are excited to recognize the Foundation for the difference its support has made in the lives of our clients,”said Susan Berman, Fresh Start Women’s Foundation President and CEO. “The Amica Companies Foundation mission ties into the work we do. We are grateful for the support they have provided.”
The Amica Companies Foundation has supported Jump Start for three years with a total of $95,000 in grant funding, which enabled Fresh Start clients access to the life-changing career readiness program. The Jump Start program is a week-long series, offered monthly, that empowers women to take the next step in their personal and professional lives. Unemployed and underemployed women develop their job readiness skills, improve their communication, and build their self-esteem and support network. They walk away with actionable steps to reach their goals. Exercises in the series include mock interviews, resume review and instruction, professional communication, and SMART Goals.
“Amica is honored to be this year’s recipient of the Community Impact Award,” said Meredith Gregory, charitable giving coordinator at Amica. “We continue to be so moved by the meaningful impact the Jump Start program has on women’s lives. We’re proud to support Fresh Start and look forward to building on our partnership in future years.”
The Amica Companies Foundation will be recognized at the upcoming Celebration for Success event at the Fresh Start Women’s Resource Center in downtown Phoenix. The Celebration of Success event is a special night during which clients are celebrated for their accomplishments, such as completion of programs like Jump Start. Families come out to support the women in their lives and tell their stories of overcoming challenges and reaching goals. It is a special event that brings together women from all walks of life who have benefited from the programs and services offered at Fresh Start.
The Fresh Start Women’s Resource Center offers a wide breadth of programs and services, including career readiness, family law support, social work services, domestic violence support, scholarships, mentoring, computer skills training, professional clothing, and financial coaching, as well as job placement services through the onsite Goodwill Career Center.
